Wheels Off Half Marathon

Date: Saturday, September 16, 2017
Start Time: 7:00am
Location: Duluth, MN

Run along the scenic North Shore of Lake Superior, 13.1 mi point to point. Enjoy the same course as the Garry Bjorklund half marathon but take the interstate (I-35) for the last 4 miles of the course.

During the Wheel’s Off Half Marathon runners will go through the I-35 tunnels, which is completely unique to our course.

USATF Certified Course

The half marathon course is now a certified 13.1 mile distance! Our certification code is MN13014RR. What does this mean? The purpose of the USATF course certification program is to produce road race courses of accurately measured distances.

For any road running performance to be accepted as a record or be nationally ranked, it must be run on a USATF-certified course. In addition, the certification program is very important to the average road racer, as well as those of exceptional speed. Most runners like to compare performances run on different courses, and such comparisons are difficult if course distances are not reliable. No one can truly establish a personal best if the course distance is not accurate.
